Mariam Chughtai is from Pakistan and has a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) from Harvard University.

Biography:

Dr. Mariam Chughtai has a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) from Harvard University specializing in Education Policy, Leadership and Instructional Practice. Her doctoral thesis focused on the politics of making and breaking national identity in Pakistan through the use of history textbooks. Mariam has two Masters’ degrees from Harvard University, in International Education Policy and Education Policy and Management, and a Bachelors in Political Science from Rice University. 

Mariam founded the Harvard Pakistan Student Group (HPSG) in 2009 with a community of less than 20 students. She handed over an organization with over 600 members three years later, having established HPSG as the first university-wide student organization recognized by Harvard University. These efforts trail blazed the path for 30 other university-wise student groups to emerge in HPSG's footsteps and achieve this recognition. 

As a teaching fellow, Mariam has taught several courses at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, along with Negotiations at Harvard Law School and Leadership at Harvard Kennedy School. She is now based in Pakistan, working as Country Director Pakistan for Harvard University South Asia Institute and as Associate Director, School of Education Project at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).
